Category: Drama, Fantasy, Thriller

Much has been anticipated from the highly acclaimed director, Peter Jackson and he didn’t fail us in our expectations. This fantasy thriller from DreamWorks offers special effects and a great deal of drama squeezed into 120 very fine minutes. The Lovely Bones was crafted with ardency that you will admire the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Kingkong director again.

Stanley Tucci, played as her nymphomaniac neighbor (and he really looks like one). Tucci seems like he has done it a lot of times, he really did great. Mark Wahlberg did just fine but I expected more from Rachel Weisz. If you were Suzie, you’d tell your mom to act like you she can’t move on that easily.

I have to commend Andrew Lesnie, Director of Photography. Thanks to him, the film looked like it was shot in the 70s though I felt like I was watching a film made by two different cinematographers. You will know when you see the film.

I haven’t gotten the chance of reading Alice Sebold’s book. But while I was watching the film, it gave me a feeling that it was a showoff by the filmmakers. CGI was extensively used in almost the half of the film that it made me think, was this part of the author’s idea or did I just see another amaze-the-film watchers-with-CGI?. In a scale of 1-10, this should get an 8.6. I was also holding my breath in some of the scenes while watching it anyway.

These are the lovely bones. That had grown beyond my absence. – Suzie Salmon.
