Ellen Page
Ellen is a Canadian actress who worked her way up from the independent movie circuit and is now known for her starring roles in Hard Candy, Inception, Smart People, Whip It, and X-Men: The Last Stand. In her latest movie Inception, Page plays the character of a dream architect who is recruited by Leonardo DiCaprio to create vast subconscious dream-scapes.
She first appeared in a television movie, Pit Pony, at the age of ten. This eventually led to roles in a number of small Canadian films and television series. At age sixteen, she was cast in an independent film, Mouth to Mouth. Ellen’s also appeared in other indie movies like, An American Crime, The Tracey Fragments, The Stone Angel, and Smart People.
At 17 she played the lead role in Hard Candy, a cult hit in which Page’s 14-year-old character turns the tables on a pedophile. It was a hard-hitting and critically acclaimed performance. (It’s also the film that caught the attention of Jason Reitman, who directed Juno.)
Her breakthrough role was that of the title character in the award-winning comedy-drama film Juno, for which Page received both Golden Globe and Academy Award best actress nominations for her role as Juno MacGuff, a 16-year-old high school student who tries to deal with her untimely pregnancy. She won several awards, including a Canadian Comedy Award, Independent Spirit Award, and Satellite Award.
With Juno, Ellen Page established herself and a highly bankable star and in her latest movie she stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Christopher Nolan’s latest fantasy film, Inception. In the Inception Page plays the character of a dream architect who is recruited by Leonardo DiCaprio to create vast subconscious dream-scapes.
With more promising movies like The Rivals, Cosmopolis, Contagion, Second Coming, Midnight in Paris & Little White Lies. Ellen Page certainly looks to god places with her budding career.
